About Pure Telecom broadband

Pure Telecom is an independent Irish telecoms company selling residential broadband over the open eir wholesale fibre network. It owns no infrastructure, which in practice means the line into your house is the same one eir would sell you at the same address, and the difference between them is commercial rather than technical: contract length, price, and what happens when the introductory period runs out.

The range is two plans — a mid-tier fibre connection and a gigabit one — on twelve-month contracts. There is no setup fee, no one-off bill credit and no contractual annual price increase in our data, so the only moving part is the introductory discount, which runs for the full twelve months and then reverts to the standard rate. That makes it one of the most straightforward providers on this site to compare: the first-year figure is simply twelve months of the opening rate, and the ongoing figure is the standard rate.

Where Pure Telecom tends to win is on the second year rather than the first. Its standard rates sit below the ones several larger providers revert to, so a household that signs up and stays put — rather than switching every twelve months — frequently ends up better off than it would have on a deal with a deeper opening discount. If you know you are the kind of customer who forgets to switch, that is the number worth weighting.

Pure Telecom sells two speed tiers and nothing else, which makes it one of the easier providers to compare: there is no bundle, no credit and no annual rise to unpick.

Pure Telecom broadband questions

Is Pure Telecom the cheapest broadband provider in Ireland?

Not overall. Pure Telecom's best plan, Pure Fibre 1000, ranks 11 of 22 plans we track, at about €480 over a first year against €319.88 for the cheapest plan on the market. Speed and availability differ between them, so the cheapest plan overall may not be sold at your address — see the full broadband comparison.

How much does Pure Telecom broadband cost a month?

Pure Telecom's cheapest plan opens at €40 a month for 12 months and then moves to €70 a month. Spread across the whole 12-month contract — that averages €40 a month. The monthly headline on its own is not the cost of the plan, which is why we publish both.

What broadband speeds does Pure Telecom offer?

The Pure Telecom plans in our data run at 1 Gbps download, delivered over full fibre. What you can actually order depends on the network at your address rather than on the provider's price list, so run your eircode through the provider's checker first. Compare against every provider at the same speed on our broadband comparison.

What happens to my Pure Telecom bill when the offer ends?

The account moves from the opening rate to Pure Telecom's standard rate — €40 to €70 a month on its cheapest plan — as soon as the introductory months run out. There is no separate contractual annual increase on top of that in our data. Set a reminder a month before the offer expires: that is the point at which switching, or asking for a new deal, is worth the phone call.

How do I switch to Pure Telecom?

Check availability at your eircode on Pure Telecom's own site first — fixed broadband is sold address by address, and a plan advertised nationally may not reach you. If it is available, Pure Telecom places the order and arranges any installation; you keep your existing service running until the new line is live, then cancel the old one, honouring whatever notice period it carries. Our guide to switching broadband covers contract end dates, notice and equipment returns.
