About Digiweb broadband

Digiweb is an independent Irish provider based in Dundalk, and one of the longer-established names in the market — it has been selling connectivity since the days when that meant something other than fibre. Today its residential offer is built on SIRO, the fibre network jointly owned by ESB and Vodafone that runs fibre along the existing electricity infrastructure into towns around the country. Availability therefore follows the SIRO build rather than the open eir footprint, and the two do not overlap everywhere.

Its residential range is deliberately narrow: a single gigabit fibre plan rather than a ladder of speed tiers. That simplicity is the pitch. There is an introductory rate for the first twelve months and a standard rate afterwards, and the gap between them is far smaller than the doubling several larger providers apply, so the second year holds no unpleasant surprise.

The one line item to account for is the connection fee. Digiweb charges a one-off setup cost where most of its larger competitors have dropped theirs, and on a twelve-month contract that fee is spread over relatively few months, so it moves the real first-year cost by a meaningful amount. The figures in the table below include it rather than quoting a monthly rate that quietly excludes it. Weighed against a competitor’s aggressive opening rate the fee hurts; weighed against that competitor’s standard rate a year later, it usually does not.

Digiweb is the only provider in our data charging a separate connection fee, which is added to its first-year total below rather than left in the small print.

Digiweb broadband questions

Is Digiweb the cheapest broadband provider in Ireland?

Not overall. Digiweb's best plan, SIRO Gigabit Fibre, ranks 15 of 22 plans we track, at about €485.35 over a first year against €319.88 for the cheapest plan on the market. Speed and availability differ between them, so the cheapest plan overall may not be sold at your address — see the full broadband comparison.

How much does Digiweb broadband cost a month?

Digiweb's cheapest plan opens at €37.95 a month for 12 months and then moves to €49.95 a month. Spread across the whole 12-month contract — setup fee added, that averages €40.45 a month. The monthly headline on its own is not the cost of the plan, which is why we publish both.

What broadband speeds does Digiweb offer?

The Digiweb plans in our data run at 1 Gbps download, delivered over full fibre. What you can actually order depends on the network at your address rather than on the provider's price list, so run your eircode through the provider's checker first. Compare against every provider at the same speed on our broadband comparison.

What happens to my Digiweb bill when the offer ends?

The account moves from the opening rate to Digiweb's standard rate — €37.95 to €49.95 a month on its cheapest plan — as soon as the introductory months run out. There is no separate contractual annual increase on top of that in our data. Set a reminder a month before the offer expires: that is the point at which switching, or asking for a new deal, is worth the phone call.

How do I switch to Digiweb?

Check availability at your eircode on Digiweb's own site first — fixed broadband is sold address by address, and a plan advertised nationally may not reach you. If it is available, Digiweb places the order and arranges any installation; you keep your existing service running until the new line is live, then cancel the old one, honouring whatever notice period it carries. Our guide to switching broadband covers contract end dates, notice and equipment returns.
