About Vodafone broadband

Vodafone is primarily a mobile operator in Ireland, and its fixed broadband business is built around that. It sells fibre over the wholesale networks rather than over infrastructure of its own, so the line at your address is the same physical connection several competitors would supply, and the case for Vodafone rests on price, contract terms and whatever discount it attaches to holding a mobile plan with the same account.

That bundling is the thing to understand before comparing. The standalone broadband prices we track are the advertised rates for broadband on its own; households already paying Vodafone for mobile are frequently quoted a lower fixed price, and the size of that discount depends on the mobile plan rather than on the broadband one. If you are a Vodafone mobile customer, treat our figure as a ceiling and check what the account actually offers you.

Its standalone structure is unusually short on gimmicks. The plans in our data carry a modest introductory discount over a short opening period rather than a deep twelve-month cut, no setup fee, no one-off credit and no contractual annual increase — so the gap between the first year and the ongoing cost is far smaller than at providers whose opening rate halves the price. That makes Vodafone look worse against a competitor’s opening month and better against the same competitor’s second year, which is exactly why the tables on this site show both figures rather than a monthly headline.

Vodafone's broadband pricing is heavily bundle-led, so the standalone rates we track are only part of the picture if you also hold a Vodafone mobile plan.

Vodafone broadband questions

Is Vodafone the cheapest broadband provider in Ireland?

Not overall. Vodafone's best plan, Fibre 500Mb, ranks 10 of 22 plans we track, at about €450 over a first year against €319.88 for the cheapest plan on the market. Speed and availability differ between them, so the cheapest plan overall may not be sold at your address — see the full broadband comparison.

How much does Vodafone broadband cost a month?

Vodafone's cheapest plan opens at €35 a month for 6 months and then moves to €40 a month. Spread across the whole 12-month contract — that averages €37.50 a month. The monthly headline on its own is not the cost of the plan, which is why we publish both.

What broadband speeds does Vodafone offer?

The Vodafone plans in our data run at 500 Mbps download, delivered over full fibre. What you can actually order depends on the network at your address rather than on the provider's price list, so run your eircode through the provider's checker first. Compare against every provider at the same speed on our broadband comparison.

What happens to my Vodafone bill when the offer ends?

The account moves from the opening rate to Vodafone's standard rate — €35 to €40 a month on its cheapest plan — as soon as the introductory months run out. There is no separate contractual annual increase on top of that in our data. Set a reminder a month before the offer expires: that is the point at which switching, or asking for a new deal, is worth the phone call.

How do I switch to Vodafone?

Check availability at your eircode on Vodafone's own site first — fixed broadband is sold address by address, and a plan advertised nationally may not reach you. If it is available, Vodafone places the order and arranges any installation; you keep your existing service running until the new line is live, then cancel the old one, honouring whatever notice period it carries. Our guide to switching broadband covers contract end dates, notice and equipment returns.
