About Flogas
Flogas has been trading in Ireland since the 1970s and is part of the DCC group. Most households know it for bottled and bulk LPG — the cylinders and tanks that heat homes with no mains gas connection — but it also operates as a licensed supplier of piped natural gas and electricity in the Republic.
For the purposes of this comparison, Flogas is a natural gas supplier competing on a straightforward discounted variable plan. It has no legacy monopoly customer base in piped gas, so its published rate is set to win switchers from Bord Gáis Energy and the other established names, and it is regularly among the cheaper options at average household usage.
Things to check. The discount applies to the unit rate for the first 12 contract months and then the account moves to the standard variable rate, which is where a good year one can quietly become an ordinary year two. Discounted pricing normally requires direct debit and online billing. And because Flogas’s brand covers both LPG and natural gas, make sure the plan you are signing up to is the piped mains-gas product if that is what your home is connected to — the two are priced completely differently and are not interchangeable.
Switching gas supplier is free and takes about two to three weeks. You need your GPRN from a recent bill, a meter reading and bank details. Your gas supply is not interrupted, and the meter and pipework stay with Gas Networks Ireland regardless of who bills you.
We currently track one residential natural gas plan from Flogas. Its LPG cylinder and bulk-tank business is a separate product for homes off the gas network and is not part of this comparison.

Flogas gas questions
Is Flogas the cheapest gas supplier in Ireland?

How much does Flogas gas cost per year?
At 11,000 kWh a year — a typical gas-heated Irish home — Flogas's cheapest plan comes to roughly €1,565.79 in the first year and €1,705.49 a year afterwards. Both figures include the standing charge and carbon tax on gas, currently 1.25c per kWh including VAT, which no supplier discount applies to.
Does Flogas include carbon tax in its gas rate?
Flogas quotes gas unit rates before carbon tax, so we add it back at 1.25c per kWh including VAT to get the annual figures on this page. Carbon tax is a government levy, it rises at each Budget, and no supplier discount is applied to it.
How do I switch to Flogas for gas?
Switching gas supplier is free and takes about two to three weeks; your supply is never interrupted and the meter stays with Gas Networks Ireland. You need your GPRN from a recent gas bill, a meter reading and bank details — direct debit is required for the discounted rates. The first-year discount ends at month 12, so diary a reminder for month 11. If you also buy electricity, check the dual fuel comparison before deciding.
